“YOU HAVE NOW ENTERED THE MISSION FIELD”
“Those were the words above the door-way as I left the church building where I met Jesus in 1985. It made sense to me. I had been hurting, broken, and disconnected from God. And now, through faith in His Son Jesus, I was being restored. The Lord was healing my broken heart, connecting me with His love and presence, and giving me a new purpose for living. It made sense to me right away that I needed to help others find Jesus as well.” —Pastor Paul
The Vineyard Core Values state:
The church exists for the sake of those who are exiled from God. We are called to bring the gospel of the kingdom to every nook and cranny of creation, faithfully translating the message of Jesus into language and forms that are relevant to diverse peoples and cultures.
As we go, we represent Jesus every where our feet take us. “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.” (2 Corinthians 5: 20)
Our vision for Hudson Vineyard Church is that we would continue to be a faithful witness to Jesus in very unspectacular ways. That we would continue to take risks under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and be willing to be better equipped to fulfill the Great Commission Mandate of Jesus. We have people in this church being used by the Lord to speak words of life and hope to those in their families, in their work places and schools, in their neighborhoods, and in gyms and bars.
But we have more risks to take……..
The approach and the way that we speak to others about Jesus needs to be flexible, creative and tailored to the individual that God has brought into our paths. But more than anything else we need to be like Jesus, who was filled with compassion when He saw broken and hurting people.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to his disciples,
“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into the harvest field.”
(Matthew 9: 36-38)
Lord, send us……………
